    Asbestos surveys

An asbestos survey is a legal requirement if you own or maintain a property that was built before the year 2000. Should you own a residential property then an asbestos survey is not legally required, but it is still crucial to understand what risk there might be and to keep you safe. We carry out both Management and Refurbishment and Demolition surveys in accordance with the HSG 264 legal guidelines.

    Asbestos testing

If material has been identified as potentially having asbestos in it, we can arrange for fast and cost effective sampling of it to provide a quick confirmation. We can also provide the option for testing individual materials with samples sent to a professional and accredited laboratory. Once the results are back, we will set out our recommendations for what you need to do in accordance with regulations.

    Asbestos removal & disposal

Once we have confirmed that asbestos is present and it needs to be removed, a member of our experienced team will carry out the appropriate removal and disposal. We can remove all non-notifiable asbestos and will provide a waste consignment note to demonstrate it has been legally disposed of.

    Asbestos encapsulation

If you have the option of asbestos encapsulation, this is something we can carry out. It is an alternative to asbestos removal but only if the asbestos is in an appropriate condition – it is vital that if there is any risk, the asbestos is removed and disposed of. However, encapsulation can help to seal asbestos and provide minor repairs.

    Frequently asked questions

Anything to do with asbestos is a highly technical area and we understand you may have some questions about what you require or what certain terms mean. Below you can find the answers to some common questions we hear on a regular basis.

We work all over the South East including Essex, Suffolk, Kent and London.

A simple answer – it can be very dangerous. It can cause a number of serious diseases and can even be fatal. These diseases include mesothelioma, lung cancer and asbestosis. That is why it is vital that if you have or think you have asbestos, you should get a professional to deal with it.

Any property built before 2000 may have asbestos in it. The only way to know for sure is to have a survey carried out that will assess whether there is any asbestos, and what needs to be done about it.

A professional who has training and a licence to remove asbestos must be the one to remove any asbestos material. You must not do this yourself – it can be dangerous (and the damage to your lungs develops very slowly over time) and it is also crucial that the material is disposed of correctly.

No, you do not always need to remove asbestos – asbestos is not necessarily posing a risk to your health unless it is disturbed or damaged. That is when fibres are released into the area and you may breathe these in, causing damage to your lungs.

If you have asbestos or think you do, you should have a survey carried out to see what risk there might be. Following this, recommendations will be given as to what steps you should take and removal may be one of these.
